I have a number of memories of "Ben". Not the least of which was a story told me by my late father.
You see, Ben was a night watchman supervisor. And dad worked with him for a while. Along the long nights of their shifts, Ben would always be smoking a cigar. Walking along and puffing at the same time, the smoke bellowing out from the left side up around his face and to the back, PUFF PUFF PUFF like the stack of an old steam engine on a railway. No matter what time it was or the weather or dark of the moon, everybody on his watch always knew when Benny was on the move or on his way. He was ever watchful, ever faithful and loved his children, grand children and all deeply. No person I have ever known had anything less than respect for the man.
I wish for you, the reader to know comfort and peace in this time of tremendous loss. Though our time is so measured here on Earth, we WILL all see Ben again soon.
