Joe was frequently a cheerful presence at Grey family holidays in the years when I was in college and later. We were always pleased to see his station wagon pull up in front of the house, usually accompanied by a very excited, energetic Labrador retriever in the back seat. Joe brought warm company to our holidays, and showed a genuine interest in what the Grey kids were up to. He will be missed.
