Dr. Harold F. Bosco, 88, passed away peacefully to join his loving wife Natalie in the presence of the Lord. Born in New Britain, CT on July 22, 1920, he attended New Britain High School where he played the trombone and was an avid tennis player. He then went on to Ohio University, Tufts Dental School and received his training in Oral Surgery at the Massachusetts General Hospital. He set up his practice in New Britain as the first Oral Surgeon in the booming hardware city where he practiced for over sixty years, later associating with Dr. Joe Scully and then joined by his son Dr. Stephen Bosco. He became the Chief of Oral Surgery at the New Britain General Hospital, member of the Northeast Board of Dental Examiners, and the State Dental Commissioner under the Honorable Governor Ella Grasso. He was a loving and devoted father to six children who all graduated from St. Thomas Aquinas High School. He spent his summers at Black Point where he could be seen boating and swimming. He was a longtime member of Shuttle Meadow Country Club where he had the reputation of being a remarkable chipper and putter. He truly loved his many friends and occasionally won a few dollars at Gin Rummy. He was blessed with good luck and had the distinction of winning the State Lottery in 1973. He was also proud to have been a member of the Knights of Columbus and the YMCA Health Club. He is survived by his six children, Harold and Barbara Bosco of Greenfield, MA, Dr. Paul and Arlene Bosco of Jay, VT, Diane and Rory Scully of Niantic, CT, Dr. Stephen Bosco of Niantic, CT, Dr. Peter and Laura Bosco of Glastonbury, CT and Dr. Jay and Laura Bosco of New Brunswick, Maine and 15 grandchildren, Isaac, Leah, John Paul, Daniel, Andrew, Roger, Annie, Nicholas, Samuel, Benjamin, Clara, Julia, Greta, James and Lucia, who will all miss him deeply. He is also survived by a brother, Tony Bosco of New Britain. Dr. Bosco was predeceased by his sisters, Helen and Annie Bosco and his brothers, Joe, Christopher, Natalie and Matthew Bosco. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:00 AM at St. Maurice Church, 100 Wightman Rd, New Britain. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain. Friends may call at the Farrell Funeral Home, 110 Franklin Sq., New Britain on Saturday morning from 9:00 AM until the time of Mass. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Brittany Farms Health Center, 400 Brittany Farms Rd. New Britain, CT. 06053.
