Robert Wise posted a condolence

Dear Marilyn, Greg, Jon, and Tim, On behalf of the entire Wise Family, I want to express my most sincere condolences. Peter will long be remembered by Phil , Ray, and me as the fun- loving, risk-taking, big- hearted, other brother we loved dearly. As we spent so many happy days growing up together in that close-knit neighborhood of ours, Peter was the one among us who always challenged us to extend ourselves, to look for excitement down ice- covered hillsides or beyond the approved limits of our neighborhood. His care-free, easy- going personality was an irresistible magnet, regardless of the consequences. Phil, especially, suffered many sore back-sides from our father after enjoying a Peter Slater outing! After many years away , I returned to York Road three or so years ago to clean out my mother's home in preparation for its. sale. I viewed Peter outside your home and hurried excitedly up that steep, sled- friendly road to ask about his life. Our care-free childhood days came rushing back in the moment of our embrace. That warm smile that greeted me, sincere and vulnerable, is the image of him I will carry with me for years to come. It's not unlike his memorial picture, but surrounded by pixy- dust. Rest in Peace, Dear Brother

Mr. & Mrs. Ronald Simard posted a condolence

To the family of Peter's, we send our heartfelt condolences. We knew him from The Hospital for Special Care where I (Ron) was treated for COPD. Peter and I shared a lot about life with this illness and we both realized that you had to have it to understand it. In fact we both used to say " nobody really knows".Those were our fist words every time we bumped into each other or saw each other at the "Breathe Takers" functions and Holiday events sponsored by HFSC.
It provided me comfort knowing that someone else also expressed my exact feeling about life with COPD. My wife and I will really miss his great smile and stories. I will personally miss him as a special friend.
May the Good Lord provide the family peace and relief that Peter no longer has to struggle with breathing to stay alive and is now at peace.
Sincerely
Ron SImard

It is with the deepest sadness to learn of Peter's passing. I first met him at The Hospital for Special Care, where right off the bat he helped me to "keep on keeping on" with my health challenges. Interesting, positive and smart, he and I shared many wonderful and profound conversations, as well as laughs, which I will treasure forever. One of his favorite topics was food and good restaurants, and would always describe to me his creations, like his favorite " Ham and Lamb" sandwich, among many others! We probably covered every topic over the years.
I will miss him dearly and all his gifts-- the place will not be the same without him. I am blessed and grateful for having known him. May you all treasure fond memories and God bless you.

my sympathy goes out to Peters family. having shared the same disease as Peter, our paths crossed six years ago at the hospital for special care. I met Peter at the gym where we both went through the pulmonary re-hab program, then became community members of the gym . we would work out every day, and spend many hours after our workouts, and talk about life, our sickness, and every thing under the sun. I was always impressed, how intelligent, and well read he was.one day I asked him a question about the unrest in the middle east, he went into a 30 minute history of it all.we became close friends, and I will miss him dearly.it will never be the same at the gym without him

Mrs. Slater, Greg, Jon, Tim and family,
My deepest sympathy to you all at Peter's passing. He was a dear and loyal friend. It was at church today at an All Souls' day time of worship that I heard the news from a joint friend. Our friend,Laura B., came to know and love Peter at Hospital for Special Care. Peter and all of you are in my thoughts and prayers.
