Mary Ellen Welsh, 61, of New Britain, died Sunday, March 30, 2008. Born in Ware, MA, the daughter of the late William and Anna (Brunnell) Welsh, she has lived in New Britain, since 1965. A respiratory therapist, she was employed for many years at the Hospital For Special Care and previously at the Hospital of Central Connecticut in New Britain. She was a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, the New Britain Lodge of Elks #957, St. Francis of Assisi Church and was a regular participant in The Race In The Park. For many years, Mary Ellen was an educator for the Pulmonary Support Group at the Hospital For Special Care. Mary Ellen is survived by two brothers William C. and his wife Faith H. Welsh of Silver Spring, MD, James F. Welsh of Dover, Del; her nieces and nephews Timothy A. Welsh of Minneapolis, Teresa A. Welsh, William C. Welsh, III, Robert B. Welsh and Suzanne M. Welsh all of Maryland. Funeral services will be held Thursday 9:00 A.M. from the Farrell Funeral Home 110 Franklin Sq. New Britain, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. at St. Francis of Assisi Church 1755 Stanley St. New Britain. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mary Ellen Welsh Education Fund c/o the Foundation for Special Care 2150 Corbin Ave. New Britain, CT 06053 or to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
