I had the pleasure to work with and know this wonderful lady during my working years in New Britain. I was shocked to learn of her untimely death and pray that she has found peace. For all that knew her, her radiant smile and sense of humor could blossom anyone's day. May she rest in peace!

Dear Family, Years ago Mary Ellen worked down the hall from me. At that time, it was known as NBGH. I remember her ever ready smile and friendliness. She also had a great love for Old English sheep dogs and came to visit to see my dog one evening after work. I am so sorry for Her lose. God cried too, as it was a evil choice of man, not in His plan for her life. In His great love for mankind, He will never take away our free will, and with that, evil will always be with us. What He will do, is comfort us with His love and peace. May the love you shared with Mary Ellen, and the love Jesus has for all of us, bring you peace. God's Blessings, Marion "Mertie" Gionfriddo

Well, Mary Ellen, I know I speak for everyone when I say "Happy Birthday to you". You should be here to celebrate you at 62. What a tragic end to a great lady. I will treasure all the times spent in your company - the years at NBGH; the endless nights at Frank's Inn when my car somehow found it's way back to Torrington; White Sands beach and the Genovese cottage; and, more recently, Hawk's Nest and visits as you convalesced at The Hospital for Special Care. You sure could tell a story...I will treasure every one. AND THAT LAUGH!!!! It is forever recorded in my memory and your bright eyes and mischievous smile remain forever in my mind's eye. To the Welsh family...I am so sorry for your loss. I can't begin to imagine the pain and heartache you must be experiencing. Most sincere condolences from one of a multitude of friends. Mary Ellen touched us all. I miss her now...I will miss her always. In sympathy, Rose Doherty

Mary Ellen and I started our careers together at NBGH. As a new grad, I took care of Rita and from there the rest is history. Mary Ellen was so great to work with, upbeat, dedicated and spontaneous. Her smile and laugh was contagious. She could tell a story like no other! I will always hear her laugh...she will be missed. Please accept my sincere condolences for your tragic loss.
