OBITUARIES James F. Kelly, Jr. of Berlin passed away at his home Sunday, after a brief illness. Born Feb. 11, 1933, in New Britain, CT, he graduated with the class of 1951 from Notre Dame High School in West Haven. A U.S. Navy Veteran he served a board the Aircraft Carrier Antiatam during the Korean War. He attended the University of Hartford and was employed for thirty six years at Southern New England Telephone Co. retiring at the age of 56. He was an active member of St. Andrews Catholic Church on Block Island, RI and Sacred Heart Church in East Berlin, he was active with the Arthritis Foundation, and was a member of the American Legion Post 36 of Rhode Island . James was also an active aviator for much of his life. Mr. Kelly is survived by his wife Murielle (Fortier) Kelly; five sons Patrick of Acushadt, MA, James, and Sean of Berlin, Gary of Cromwell, and Timothy of Bristol, seven grandchildren Francis J., Patricia A., Ryan P., Jennifer, Alicia, Kristen and Eileen all of Berlin, a brother Francis J. Kelly of Newington, a sister Patricia Swent of Berlin and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister Jane Kelly Felletter. Funeral services will be held Thursday 9:15 A.M. from the Farrell Funeral Home 110 Franklin New Britain with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. at Sacred Heart Church East Berlin. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
