Obituary of Peter Semanki
On Tuesday, the 10th of December, Peter Semanki, long-time resident of New Britain, CT, passed away at the age of 87 after a months-long illness. Peter was born in Ukraine just prior to World War II. After the war, he lived and played professional soccer in Belgium until a knee injury forced him to alter course. He, along with his parents and two sisters, emigrated to Connecticut in the mid-1950s. Later, Peter proudly became a naturalized U.S. citizen. Professionally, he worked as an electrical draftsman/designer at various companies including for many years at Pratt & Whitney Machine Tool in West Hartford. After the tumult of his youth in war-torn Europe, Peter enjoyed savoring the simple yet sweet pleasures of daily life such as spending time with family, relaxing outdoors with a glass of ice tea and a pet pup beside him, and passionately watching broadcasts of national and international soccer. Peter is survived by his beloved wife Susan, née Angeli, and three children Steven Semanki, Nancy Rehberg, and David Semanki. Peter is also survived by his four grandchildren Jordan Theriault, Cristina Theriault, Christopher Semanki, and Lauren Semanki. In lieu of flowers, consider making a donation to the animal charity, the ASPCA. Funeral services will be held in the spring, at the convenience of the family.
