Obituary of James D. Walsh
James Donnelly Walsh, loving father, brother and uncle passed away at home on April 23, 2017. Born in New Britain CT on January 29, 1962, he was the son of the late James and Ruth Walsh. Jim spent his formative years growing up in New Britain CT and Bloomfield Hills MI.
He graduated from St. Thomas Aquinas High School in 1980 where he formed many enduring friendships. It was there that he created the DTO club, his first foray into business.
Jim went on to graduate from Bryant University with a degree in Business Administration and where he continued to expand his circle of close and loving friends.
Jim spent his professional carrier as a Financial Advisor at various institutions including GMAC, Fleet Capital and most recently, TIAA.
The light of Jim's life was his beloved son, Ian Patrick who provided him with some of his greatest joys. In addition to Ian, Jim leaves his siblings, William, Brian and Margaret, as well as his devoted nieces and nephew, Jennifer, Sarah, Heather, Shannon, Jessica, Michael and Erin.
Jim's love for family traditions helped establish wonderful times, most notably, James Taylor concerts at Tanglewood Music Center and raging 4th of July parties at his home. He was also instrumental in organizing UCONN football games and Michigan football gatherings.
Jim was a devoted father, loving brother and inspirational uncle who shared his love and affection freely and completely.
His lifelong motto was "Espirit de Family", which his family will continue to honor for the rest of their lives.
Visitation will be Tuesday, May 2 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. and Wednesday, May 3 from 9:00-10:00 a.m. at Farrell Funeral Home, 110 Franklin Square, New Britain CT. A Christian Mass will follow on Wed. May 3 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, 195 South Main St., New Britain, CT. Burial will be a private ceremony at the convenience of his family.
