Helen M. (Colavecchio) Failla, 95, of New Britain, died Saturday (April 1, 2017) at the Hospital of Central CT in New Britain. Born in Campobasso, Italy, the daughter of the late Vincent and Louise (Foligno) Colavecchio. She came to this country at the age of 8 and resided in Hartford, graduating from Weaver High School. Helen went to work at United Tool in Hartford and later helped established the Failla Tool Company with her late husband James C. Failla, Sr., who died April 13, 2008. They were married for 63 years. A member of St. Ann’s Church, she also belonged to St. Ann’s Society and the Chalker Beach Association.
Mrs. Failla is survived by her son James C. Failla, Jr., and his wife Shirley, a daughter Christine F. O’Brien and her husband David; grandchildren James C. Failla, III and his wife, Elizabeth, Megan O’Brien and Allison O’Brien, who will dearly miss their loving grandmother; a brother in law, Sofio Failla and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Saverino Colavecchio.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday (Apr. 5 , 2017) with a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 noon at St. Ann’s Church, New Britain. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain. Visitation will be Wednesday from 11:00 AM until the time of the Mass at the Farrell Funeral Home 110 Franklin Sq. New Britain.
