I am very sorry to hear passing of bob. I cant say enough good about him. Kindest Intelligent understanding person Ive ever known. I had the pleasure of working on NBFD with him. If things in city of New Britain were different when he was Captain No doubt He would have been Top Chief as He was extremely knowledgeable. Again Ill miss him was quite a man Connie Keough

I have been a friend of the Trudel sisters (Grandpa Smith's granddaughters) for more than half my life. I had the pleasure and honor of spending time with Grandpa Smith on several occasions over the years, and he was always warm and welcoming of me into his home. He was a loving man, a real man and a true gentleman who loved his family more than anything. He always wanted the best for his grandchildren and did anything necessary to fulfill their needs. Most of all he had the best chuckle and sense of humor, always cracking jokes and getting a kick out of his own one-liners. I am sad to hear of his passing, however I am confident that he lived a full and honorable life. He served his family, the public, and God and I know he will be rewarded for giving of himself unconditionally. Thanks Grandpa Smith... I will always remember the Old Navy....
