Lea P. Poirier, 87, of Gainesville, Fl (formerly Wolcott, CT) died suddenly Wednesday, January 19th. She was born December 28, 1923 in Lebanon, NH. She was the daughter of the late John J. Pauze and Eugenie Mary Clement Pauze. She died while bowling which was the passion of her life. She is predeceased by her loving husband of 23 years, Warren H. Poirier and son Timothy. She is survived by her daughter Jeanne and husband, Fred Aransky of Plantsville, CT; son James and his wife Sherry of Burleson, TX; son Thomas and his long-time companion Jennifer Hazard of Gainesville, FL.
Besides her children she is survived by seven grandchildren, Michael Aransky and his wife Desiree of Southington, CT; Aimee Lo Presti and her husband Nicholas of Plainville, CT; Danielle Poirier of Wallingford, CT; Christopher, Alexander, Thomas, and Andrew Poirier of Gainesville, FL as well as two great-grandchildren Delia Rose Poirier of Wallingford, CT and Brandon Lo Presti of Plainville, CT. One of ten children, she is survived by older sister Cecelia Irwin of Tucson, AZ and younger sister Antoinette Logan of Titusville, FL.
Lea worked for many years as a Dietician/Cook at the Wolcott Convalescent Home until she retired at age 70 and moved to Florida. She was a devoted mother to her handicapped son and loving grandmother. She was an avid bowler and took pride in leading her teams to victory. She was also very active in her local church, Holy Faith of Gainesville, FL where she voluntarily did the weekly bookkeeping for the Sunday collections. She also helped with the many craft and fundraising activities at her church. She was an active member of the Golden Gators retirement group, local chapter of Red Hats Society and volunteered at North Florida Medical Center. She made a lot of friends and took part in many fun trips and activities. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

A Catholic Funeral Mass will be held at 9:30 AM. Friday, January 28th at Holy Faith Catholic Church; 747 NW 43rd Street; Gainesville, FL. There will also be a Memorial Service at Farrell Funeral Home; 110 Franklin Square in New Britain, CT on Monday, January 31st at 11:30 AM. followed by burial at St. Mary Cemetery; 1309 Stanley Street; New Britain, CT.
