OBITUARIES Virginia (Newman DiLoreto) Zizzamia, 89, of New Britain, died Thursday night at The Hospital of Central CT in New Britain with her children at her side. Born in New Haven, the daughter of the late Frank and Clarice (Curtis) Newman, she was educated in the New Haven School System, graduated from New Haven Hillhouse High School and the Junior College of Commerece (now Quinnipiac College). She was married to the late Frank J. DiLoreto and the late Joseph P. Zizzamia. Mrs. Zizzamia was a former State Senator, a former corporator of the Burritt Savings Bank, a former member of the Slater Road Branch Advisory Board, a member of St. Ann's Church, where she was a Minister of the Eucharist, a member and past officer of the Ladies Guild, the Wednesday Seniors, member of the Parish Development Committee, a Renew Program Participant and was involved with the American Feast of Saint Ann. She was also a member of the New Britain Council of Catholic Women, the Women's Auxiliary of the Hospital for Special Care, Saint Lucian's Service League, the Auxiliary of the Resurrection House, the Italian Junior League, and the New Britain Lawyers Auxiliary. Mrs. Zizzamia is survived by her children Dr. Mark F. DiLoreto and his wife Lori of Berlin, Michele Fazio and her husband Tony, and Maria Sokoloski and her husband, Michael, all of New Britain; nine grandchildren, Dr. Mark DiLoreto Jr., James DiLoreto, Sam Deiwert, Samantha and Patricia Sokoloski, Tony, Christopher and Kevin Fazio and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her grandson Michael Fazio. Her life was filled with family. She cherished her time with her children and grandchildren whether it was spending time at the shore or annual vacations together. She will be remembered as a woman of Faith, Dignity, and Strength who was an inspiration to all who knew her. Funeral services will be held Monday 10:30 A.M. from the Farrell Funeral Home 110 Franklin Square New Britain, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 A.M. at St. Ann's Church, North St. New Britain. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain.Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00 to 5:00 P.M. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Ann's Church c/o 47 Clark St. New Britain, CT 06051 or to the Salvation Army 78 Franklin Sq. New Britain, CT 06051.
