Florence (Rabida) Houle, 92, formerly of New Britain, passed away peacefully Friday, December 3, 2010 at Brittany Farms Health Care in New Britain. She was the widow of Leonard Houle, who died in March of 1973. Born in Berlin, NH, the daughter of the late Frank and Albina (Dumas) Rabida, she lived in Burlington, VT for a short time before finally settling in New Britain in 1955. She had been employed at the D & L Store and the Weathervane for many years and had been a volunteer at St. Jerome Church and St. Joseph's Church. Mrs. Houle is survived by two daughters, Nadine and her husband Eric Wenz of Rocky Hill and Marie Neville of Cromwell; two sons, Michael Houle of New Britain and Norman and his wife Coby Houle of Chester, Maryland; two grandchildren Christopher M. Wenz of New Britain and Travis F. Houle of Ohio; a sister Mabel Gagnon and her husband Louis of Florida and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three sisters, Irene Fortin, Florianne Sheriff and Rhoda Cyr, and her brother Leo (Elwin) Rabida. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 8:30 A.M. at the Farrell Funeral Home, 110 Franklin Sq. New Britain with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 A.M. at St. Joseph's Church, 195 So. Main St. New Britain. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association 279 New Britain Road Kensington, CT 06037.
