Obituary of John Golebiewski

John Golebiewski, 84, of New Britain, died Thursday at the Hospital of Central CT in New Britain. Born in New Britain, the son of the late John and Stefania Golebiewski, he was employed at the Stanley Works for thirty two years. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict where he received two Bronze Stars, the Legion of Merit Award and the United Nations Service Medal. John was an avid sportsman and athlete, he volunteered his time over fifteen years as a coach and manager with the Walicki Little League and served as a umpire. He was a member of the Oaks Club, the PNA and the Northwestern Veterans Club. John most enjoyed spending summers in Maine with his beloved children and grandchildren. John is survived by his wife Genevieve (Krusz) Golebiewski, his daughter Janet and her husband Gary Cunningham of Berlin, his son John Golebiewski Jr., of New Britain, his grandchildren Ashley "KiKi" Cunningham, Lauren, Johnny, Ross and Julie Golebiewski; his sister in law Eleanor Golebiewski, of Newington, and several nieces and nephews. He was pre deceased by his brother Thaddeus Golebiewski and his sister Celinka Golebiewski. Funeral services will be held Monday 9:00 A.M. from the Farrell Funeral Home 110 Franklin Sq. New Britain with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. at Holy Cross Church, New Britain. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery New Britain. Visitation will be Sunday from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
