Mary (Tuttle) McMahon, 101, of New Britain, died peacefully on Tuesday (Nov. 9, 2010) at Jerome Home. Born in Cloonanaha, County Claire, Ireland, she lived most of her life in New Britain and was the widow of Patrick McMahon who died in 1950. Prior to moving to Jerome Home, Mary resided in the School House Apartment I for over 30 years. She was involved in many activities and was a friend to all her neighbors. A true Irish Catholic, she was very devout and participated in many religious functions at both St. Mary Church and St. Joseph Church.
Mary is survived by her children Mary and her husband Ronald Banak of Newington, Patricia Russell and Eudo Blanchette of Bristol, Francis and his wife Bonnie McMahon of Hampton, NH; her daughter-in-law Phyllis McMahon of Canton; 12 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren; a sister Nora O'Connor of East Hartford, a sister-in-law Nora Tuttle of Brighton, MA. and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her beloved son, Thomas who died September 10, 2010. Mary was also predeceased by five brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held Friday, November 12, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 A.M. at St. Mary Church, 544 Main St., New Britain. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain. Visitation will be Friday at the Farrell Funeral Home, 110 Franklin Sq., New Britain, CT from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the Mass. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Jerome Home Recreation Department, 975 Corbin Avenue, New Britain, CT 06052. The family would like to acknowledge the wonderful & compassionate care she received at Jerome Home.
