Vincenzo Lombardo, 94, of New Britain, died Wednesday at the Jerome Home. Born in Italy, he came to New Britain in 1950. During his early years, he served in the Italian Navy aboard the St. George Ship. In 1939 he was captured in Egypt and spent nine years in a prison camp. He was decorated with the Medal of Honor and the Medaglia dionore cavaliere delle Republica Italiaone. While in this country he belonged to the General Ameglio Society, the Priolesi Angelo Guste, and St. Ann's Church. Vincenzo is survived by his wife Concetta (D'Agula) Lombardo, his son Sebastiano Lombardo of New Britain; a sister Josephine DeMaeo of Italy, and several nieces and nephews including Salvatricia and her husband Salvatore Lacana of Old Lyme. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday at 11:30 A.M. at St. Ann's Church North St. New Britain. Entombment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery Garden Mausoleum. Visitation will be Friday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the Mass at the Farrell Funeral Home 110 Franklin Sq. New Britain.
