Irma R. (Welch) Kelly, 86, of New Britain passed away on April 13, 2010 at the Hospital of Central CT at New Britain General. She was the widow of Robert T. Kelly. Born in New Britain December 23, 1923, she was a daughter of the late Luke and Catherine (Marshall) Welch. A graduate of New Britain High in 1942, Mrs. Kelly was later employed by several area companies before retiring in 1984 after 18 years at Emhart Industries. Irma had a love for music and dancing and was an avid golfer at the Stanley Golf Course and thoroughly enjoyed playing bridge with her friends. She is survived by her sons, Robert P. and his wife Lorna Kelly of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and James and his wife Victoria Kelly of Manchester, CT; her daughter, Joanne Patten of New Britain, CT; her grandchildren, Kathryn L. Patten of Boston, MA, Rebecca L. Sullivan and her husband Michael of West Norriton, PA, Christopher Kelly of Jacksonville, FL, and Veronica Kelly and Erin Kelly, both of Manchester, CT; her sisters-in-law, Jonna Welch and Mary Alma Welch; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law Peter and Rita Kelly of New Britain. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and dear friends on Lewis Road. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her 5 brothers, Luke "Bud", William, James "Marshall", Charles and Francis Welch. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 9:00 AM at the Farrell Funeral Home, 110 Franklin Sq, New Britain with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 1755 Stanley St. New Britain. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, New Britain. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to George Bray Cancer Center, P.O. Box 100 New Britain , CT 06050 or to the Alzheimer's Association, CT Chapter, 279 New Britain Road, Suite 5, Kensington, CT 06037.
