Martha A. (Alt) Joyce "Monnie" of New Britain, died Monday (February 22, 2010) at the age of 88. She was the widow of Leonard C. Joyce, who passed away in 1969. Mrs. Joyce was a member of St. Joseph's Church, a member and past president of it's Rosary Guild. She was also a member and past president of the New Britain Council of Catholic Women, a devoted member of the Daughters of Isabella and a member of the New Britain Seniors. She served in the Waves of the U.S. Navy during World War II as a Pharmacist mate and was later employed by the New Britain School Department. Martha is survived by her sister Georgia Mahoney of New Britain. She was predeceased by six sisters and two brothers. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews including Mark Mahoney and his wife Kathryn, Kathleen Bellmar and her husband Gary, Peter Mahoney and his wife Marie, Mary Giorgetti and her husband Mark, Margaret Catenzaro and her husband Jim. Funeral services will be held Friday 10:00 A.M. from the Farrell Funeral Home 110 Franklin Sq. New Britain with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 A.M. at St. Joseph's Church 195 So. Main St. New Britain. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
