Karl Hoisl, Jr., 76, of Newington, died Thursday unexpectedly. Born in New Britain, he was the son of the late Josephine (Kirshbaum) and Karl Hoisl, Sr. A 1955 graduate of UCONN, he served in the U.S. Army from July 1955 to May 1957, stationed in Frankfort, Germany. On Oct. 12, 1957 he married Mary (Zotter) Hoisl at St. Peter Church. He retired from Connecticut Mutual Insurance in Hartford after 30 years and then worked part time for Cashway Lumber and Advanced Adhesive in Newington. A member of St. Peter Church, he also belonged to St. Peter's Society, the Austrian Donau Club for 57 years, where he served as president and treasurer, and volunteered at the House of Bread in Hartford for 20 years. Since retirement, Karl loved to travel, was an avid skier, enjoyed woodworking, but the joy of his life was his grandchildren: especially attending their school and sports activities. In addition to his wife Mary, Karl is survived by two sons Frank and his wife Lisa Hoisl of Wethersfield, and Thomas and his wife Andrea Hoisl of West Hartford, six grandchildren Lauren, Matthew, Rebekah, Kelly, Megan and Sarah. Funeral services will be held Monday 9:00 A.M. from the Farrell Funeral Home 110 Franklin Sq. New Britain, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. at St. Peter Church. Burial will follow in West Meadow Cemetery, Newington. Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00 to 5:00 P.M. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Peter Church 98 Franklin Sq. New Britain, CT 06051. Members of the St. Peter Society will meet Sunday at 4:00 P.M. for a prayer service.
