Phyllis G. (Gonsalves) Tarro, 81, of Southington, formerly of New Britain, died Friday at the Hospital of Central Connecticut in New Britain. Born in New Bedford, MA, the daughter of the late Manuel and Gloria Gonsalves, she lived many years in New Britain moving to Southington in 1999. For many years she worked at the Finest Supermarket. Among her hobbies, Phyllis enjoyed knitting and crocheting, especially the caps for newborns and afghans for cancer patients at the Hospital of Central CT in New Britain. She was also an avid New York Yankee fan. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Peter Tarro. Mrs. Tarro is survived by two sons Bruce P. Tarro, Sr. and his wife Sandy of Southington, Glenn R. Tarro and his wife Belinda of Vernon, her daughter Deborah Blair and her husband George of Kensington; six grandchildren, two great grandchildren, two sisters Florence Nahorney and Gloria Beauregard two brothers Albert Gonsalves and George Gonsalves and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Monday 10:00 A.M. from the Farrell Funeral Home 110 Franklin Sq. New Britain with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 A.M. at St. Peter Church 98 Franklin Sq. New Britain. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery New Britain. Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospital of Central Connecticut Fund Development Office100 Grand St. New Britain, CT 06051-0100.
