Obituary of George P. Nuss

George P. Nuss, 92, of New Britain, died Friday morning at home surrounded by his loving family. Born and raised in New Britain, he graduated from New Britain High School, and served his country in the South pacific with the U.S. Army during World War II. Upon returning to New Britain, he worked for the Stanley Chemical Co. (now StanChem.) in East Berlin and then joined the New Britain Fire Department in 1950 and retired in 1973. He worked many years with local funeral homes, driving for Larson Livery Service and the Farrell Funeral Home. He was an Honorary Member of the Firefighters Local #992, where he had served as president from 1958 to 1960. George is survived by his wife Jesse (Locke) Nuss, their children Peter Nuss and his wife Bonnie of Hyde Park, NY, David Nuss and his wife Susan of Tunkhannock, PA, Carolyn and her husband Robert Vickery of Phoenix, NY and Gretchen and her husband Frank Tomaro of Wethersfield; seven Grandchildren and three great grandchildren, a sister Margaret Neumann of Middletown and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister Dorothea Canzellarini. Funeral services will be held Monday (Nov.2, 2009) at 12:00 noon at the Farrell Funeral Home 110 Franklin Sq. New Britain. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, New Britain. Visitation will be Sunday from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hospice of Central CT 205 West Main St. New Britain, CT 06052.
