Peter (Cody) Koziatek, 94, of New Britain, died Sunday October 4, 2009 at home after a battle with cancer. He was a life long city resident and was retired from Fafnir/Textron Mfg. Co. with over 30 years of employment. In 1942, Peter was awarded an Army-Navy Production Award in support of America's Flight for Victory by the Undersecretary of the Navy, James Forestal.
Peter was an avid golfer and played in many local tournaments at the Stanley Golf Course and earned many trophies. At one time Peter won the SGC Club Championship, the Stan Pisk Trophy and was a member of the PGA "Hole-in-One" Club. His Fafnir Golf Team won several Championships.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Kathleen Lowery Koziatek, his son Kenneth Beyer and his wife Betsy, his daughters Cecelia Fredericks and her husband Kenneth, Margaret Peshka, and her husband John, Lorraine Wierbiski and her husband Peter, Sandra Edinger and many nieces, nephews grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was predeceased by sisters Stella Geryk, Rose Dzialo Brown, and brothers Walter, Edward, Stanley, and Joseph.
Funeral services will be private at the Farrell Funeral Home, Franklin Sq. New Britain, with burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery, New Britain. There are no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to the Hospice of Central Connecticut 205 West Main St. New Britain, CT 06052.
