Obituary of Mary Pauloz Kogelman

Mary (Pauloz) Kogelman, 98, passed peacefully into eternal rest early Monday, August 17, at the Jerome Home in New Britain. Mary was born June 25, 1911 in Berlin, the daughter of the late Christopher and Marie (Russenberger) Pauloz. Mary graduated from the Teacher's College of Connecticut and proudly served Berlin's children at the Selden School, teaching and mentoring children from kindergarten through sixth grade in the one room schoolhouse. As a young girl, Mary worked with her family at the Pauloz Family Orchard and Greenhouses, which was a family tradition and birthright. She was a lifelong member of the Berlin Congregational Church. Mary was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Mary was known for her love of family and friends. She was also an avid baker and cook, holding weekly dinners on Wednesday evenings that were greatly anticipated by all. She is survived by a daughter and two sons-in-law, Vicki K. and Mark A. Griswold of New Britain, CT; David Dahlstrom of Southington, CT; four grandchildren, Jeff Dahlstrom and his wife Stephanie of Middletown, CT, Karen Noel and her husband Stephen of Plymouth, CT, Kyle A. Griswold of Manhattan, NY and Ryan W. Griswold of New Britain, CT; four great-grandchildren, Kyle, Alex and Colby Noel of Plymouth, CT and Abigail Dahlstrom of Middletown, CT; her sisters, Frieda Beveridge of Newington, CT and Gertrude and Norman Parker of Newington, CT; a sister-in-law, Myrna Pauloz of Berlin, CT and countless loving nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. Mary was predeceased by her loving husband, William J. Kogelman; a daughter, Sandra K. Dahlstrom; five siblings, Victor Pauloz, Margaret Charest, Elise Pauloz, Fritz Pauloz and Alfred "Seddy" Pauloz. The family would like to extend its thanks to the nursing aides and nurses of Jerome Home in New Britain, where Mary had lived for the past two and a half years and received compassionate and loving care. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10:00 AM at the Farrell Funeral Home, 110 Franklin Sq. New Britain. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday morning from 9:00 AM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary's name can be made to the Berlin Congregational Church, 878 Worthington Ridge, Berlin, CT 06037 or to the Jerome Home c/o Recreation Department, 975 Corbin Ave, New Britain, CT 06052.
