Obituary of Ernest J. Pettinelli

Ernest J. Pettinelli, Sr., 82, of New Britain, died Tuesday morning at the Hospital of Central Connecticut in New Britain. Born in New Britain, the son of the late Eustacio and Lucy (Negri) Pettinelli, he was a life long resident, graduating from local schools. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, where he participated in the invasion of Normandy. He graduated from the McAllister School of Embalming and worked in several local funeral homes. He worked for Northeast Utilities retiring after thirty five years and was also an Alderman during the 1970's. A lifelong member of the New Britain Lodge of Elks #957, he was also a member of the IBEW (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers) and he was well known as an avid golfer and sports fan. He was an active member of the Power House Gym in Berlin where he leaves many fond memories and good friends. Ernie is survived by two sons, Ernest J. Pettinelli, Jr. and his wife Donna of New Britain and Christopher Pettinelli and his wife Beth of Berlin and three grandchildren, Nicholas, Joseph and Marissa. Funeral services will be held Friday 9:00 A.M. from the Farrell Funeral Home 110 Franklin Sq. New Britain, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. at St. Joseph's Church 195 South Main St. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain. Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association 279 New Britain Road Kensington, CT 06037. The Pettinelli family would like to thank the Andrew House Health Care caregivers, nurses and staff for their care given to Ernie.
