Obituary of Jean Paul Gilbert

Jean Paul Gilbert, 82, beloved husband of Alice (Beaudoin) Gilbert died peacefully at home on June 30, 2009 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in St. Ludger, Quebec, Canada, he was a son of the late Napoleon & Regina (Bolduc) Gilbert. He moved to the US in 1957 and worked as a machinist for Tuttle and Bailey, Dunham Bush until his retirement in 1992 from Goss and DeLeeuw. He was an active member of various Knights of Columbus organizations including the 3rd and 4th Degree, where he served as a past Grand Knight, St. Jean Baptiste Society, Franco American Organization, Union of St. Jean Baptiste, French Model Club, as well as a parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi Church. He will be deeply missed. Close to his heart, he leaves his wife Alice of 51 years, his daughters and their spouses, Nancy and Mike Luddy of Berlin, CT, Sophie Perrin of Roanoke, VA and Natalie and Bob Heleniak of Biddeford, ME. He also leaves the loves of his life, his grandchildren, Fain, Alice and Josephine Perrin and Madeline, Shelby and Tristan Luddy, all of whom he adored. He is also survived by his cherished sister and her spouse, Therese and Robert Dionne and brothers and their spouses, Andrew and Susan Gilbert and Gabriel and Helen Gilbert as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Girard Gilbert. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 9:00 AM at the Farrell Funeral Home, 110 Franklin Sq, New Britain with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Francis of Assisi Church, New Britain. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 5-8 PM. Special Thanks to the staff of Ledgecrest Health Care and the Hospital of Central CT for the tender loving attention and care that they provided. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the George Bray Cancer Center, New Britain General Hospital, P.O. Box 100 New Britain, CT 06050-9923.
