Cecile M. Fortin, 94, peacefully passed away at Brittany Farms Health Center on Friday April 10, 2009. Born in Lyster, Quebec, Canada on September 1, 1914, she lived most of her life in New Britain. Cecile was predeceased by her husband of 42 years, Sylvio Fortin. She leaves three daughters: Jacqueline Gwazda and Denise Mora of New Britain, and Alice Gura of Florida. She was affectionately called "Memere" by her 6 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Virginia Demers, and several nieces, nephews and many close friends. She enjoyed painting, reading, crocheting, and doing all types of crafts. She was a member of St. Peter's Church, the Ladies Guild of the church, the St. Ann's Ladies Society and the St. Jean de Baptist Society.
Funeral services will be held Monday with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. at St. Peter Church 98 Franklin Sq. New Britain. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain. Visitation will be Monday
9:00 A.M. until the time of the Mass at the Farrell Funeral Home 110 Franklin Sq. New Britain. The family wishes to thank the staff of Brittany Farms Health Center who made her life comfortable for the last several months.
