Frieda (Halb) Deutsch, 97, of Longmeadow, MA, formerly of New Britain died February 26, 2009 at Red Stone Rehabilitation. She was the widow of Joseph Deutsch. Born in Austria, July 25, 1911, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Angela (Deutsch) Halb. Frieda spent most of her life in New Britain and was a maintenance supervisor for Traveler's Insurance for many years before her retirement. She is survived by a daughter, Frieda Ramaswamy of Longmeadow, MA, a brother, Alfred Heine of Florida, sisters, Margaret Saunders of North Andover, MA, Elsie Murphy of New Britain, Evelyn Moonan of West Hartford, Mildred Fitch of Wallingford and Eleanor Colacray of Westbrook, four grandchildren, six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Frieda was predeceased by two sisters, Anna Begush and Helen Neville and two brothers Frank Halb and Robert Heine. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11:00 AM at St. Peter Church, New Britain. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain. Friends may call at the Farrell Funeral Home, 110 Franklin Sq., New Britain on Tuesday morning from 10:00 AM until the time of Mass. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Baystate Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice 50 Maple Street P.O. Box 9058 Springfield, MA 01102.
