Robert Theriault, Sr., 72, of New Britain died Wednesday, January 21, 2009 at the Hospital of Central Ct at New Britain General. He is survived by his beloved wife Frances (Blanchard) Theriault of 48 years. Born in Fort Kent, Maine, February 19, 1936, he was a son of the late Paul Joseph and Demerise (Pelletier) Theriault. Robert served in the Army and then retired from Pratt & Whitney Aircraft, East Hartford in 1995 after 39 years of service. He was a very active member of St. John's Evangelist Men's Club, St. Jean Baptiste and Franco American War Veterans (Post 26) organizations of New Britain. Besides his wife, Robert is survived by his son, Robert Theriault, Jr. and his wife Shelli of Newington, his daughter, Joyce (Theriault) Loffredo and her husband Louis E. Loffredo of East Hampton, his grandchildren that he adored, John Robert and Michael Ryan Loffredo of East Hampton and Samuel Robert and Lauren Rose Theriault of Newington, his brothers, Raymond Theriault and his wife Barbara of Geneva, Ohio, Paul Emile Theriault and his wife Dorothy (Blanchard) Theriault of Bristol and his sister, Cecile (Theriault) Daigle of Fort Kent, Maine. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Robert was predeceased by his son, Philip Michael Theriault, a brother, Albert J. Theriault and sisters, Priscilla M. Berube and Marie Morgan. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the New Britain Paramedics and especially to Kenneth Hutchinson for their quick response to Robert's final moments.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 9:00 AM at the Farrell Funeral Home, 110 Franklin Sq., New Britain with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. John the Evangelist Church, corner of East St. and Newington Ave, New Britain. Burial with full military honors will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon from 2-4 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Assoc., 2250 US Highway 1, North Brunswick, NJ 08902.
