Henry J. Zarotney (Papa Z), 85, of Kensington, died peacefully Friday Night at Hartford Hospital with his family by his side. Born in New Britain, he lived all of his life in Kensington and was the widower of Jacquelyn (Frank) Zarotney, who died March 14, 1997. He was self employed for many years as an oil burner technician. A member of St. Paul's Church, he also served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army. In addition to his wife, Henry was predeceased by his brothers Bruno, Wish, Stanley (Hobie), and Joseph and his sister Mary Miller. He is survived by three children, his son Robert and his wife Laura Zarotney of Newington, with whom he tried to find the next million dollar horse, son John and his wife Sharon Zarotney of Kensington, with whom he spent his days working, his daughter Denise and her husband John Szabo of Charlotte, No. Carolina, with whom he spent much time chatting often; his grandchildren, who he thoroughly enjoyed visiting with and spending lots of time with, Michael, Emily, Kyle and Katelyn Zarotney, Nicole Dagata, Patrick DiPinto, Colleen, Jean Louise, Keith and Eric Szabo; two great grandchildren Jack Dagata and Samantha DiPinto; two sisters Charlotte Bedient and Sophie Fagan, both of Kensington and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Tuesday with a Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 P.M. at St. Paul's Church, Kensington. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Visitation will be Tuesday from 11:30 A.M. until the time of the Mass at the Farrell Funeral Home, 110 Franklin Sq. New Britain. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
