Obituary of Victor Fumiatti

Victor F. Fumiatti, 79, of Bristol, died Saturday (May 14, 2016) at home after a long illness. Born in New Britain, the son of the late Victor P. and Elizabeth (Quarti) Fumiatti, he lived in Bristol the last 30 years. A 1954 graduate of New Britain High School, he then earned his BA from Boston University in 1958. He was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the US Army and was discharged as a Captain after eight years.
Vic joined the State of Connecticut as a Social Worker where he worked in Social Services for two years. He then transferred to the State Judicial Department in the Juvenile Court Probation Office, retiring as Supervisor of Probation in 1992.
Early in his career, Vic began his Community Involvement and was a Corporator, Director and Officer of the Boys & Girls Club of New Britain for over 40 years. He was also a supporter of the Hospital For Special Care, the New Britain Rotary Club, the C.C.A.R.C. and the B.P.O.Elks # 957. With the New Britain Rotary, he was a Paul Harris Fellow. Along with his wife, Betty, he established The Vic and Betty Fumiatti Scholarship Award for graduating seniors from E.C. Goodwin Technical School. In 2014, Vic and Betty received the Distinguished Service Award from the New Britain Chamber of Commerce and in 2009, they received the Celebrate New Britain Award.
In addition to his wife, Betty (Koval) Fumiatti, he is survived by his sister, Elaine and her husband Robert Pegolo of New Britain; a sister- in-law, Joann and her husband Steven Chatlas of Kensington; a nephew Steven and his wife Sheila Pegolo; a great niece, Jennifer and her husband Mark Gallup and their three children, a great nephew, Matthew and his wife Molly Pegolo; and several cousins in New Britain.
Friends and family are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial Wednesday (May 18, 2016) at 10:00 AM at St. Matthew's Church 120 Church Ave. Forestville. Burial will be private. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Farrell Funeral Home 110 Franklin Sq. New Britain.
