Obituary of Lydia E. Sunderland

Lydia E. (Wentland) Sunderland, 86, of Farmington and formerly of New Britain died Monday November 17, 2008 at an area convalescent home. She was the beloved wife for 60 years of the late Thomas J. Sunderland, Sr. Born in New Britain, July 9, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Martha (Yuknot) Wentland. Prior to her retirement in 1982, Mrs. Sunderland was the Assistant Town Clerk in the City of New Britain Town Hall. She was a family oriented woman who prided herself on Sunday dinners with family and friends and enjoyed quilting, crocheting and cooking. She is survived by a daughter, Marsha Baldwin of Farmington, a son, Thomas J. Sunderland, Jr. of New Britain, a daughter in law Jean Sunderland of Plainville,three grandchildren, Laura Bednarz, Ryan Baldwin, Tim Sunderland, five great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services were held privately and burial took place in Fairview Cemetery, New Britain. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, 87 Franklin Sq., New Britain, CT. 06051 The Farrell Funeral Home, 110 Franklin Sq. New Britain was in charge of arrangements.
