Obituary of Thomas J. Farrell

Thomas J. Farrell, 89, of Berlin, died Saturday at the Hospital of Central Connecticut in New Britain. Born and raised in New Britain, he resided in Berlin since 1952 and was a letter carrier for the New Britain Post Office for forty three years. He was a member of St. Paul's Church, Kensington, a reader at the church, a very active member of the Timberlin Senior Golf League, the Berlin Little League and attended retreats at the Holy Family Monastery for many years. Tom is survived by his wife Fannie (Herenda) Farrell; ten children, Jack Farrell of Middlefield, Timothy and his wife Sharon Farrell of Georgia, William and his wife Mary Farrell of Virginia, Tom and his wife Lisa Farrell of France, Donald and his wife Janis Hogan of Southbury, David and his wife Patricia of Virginia, Josh and his wife Shinobu Farrell of Wilton, Ned and his wife Sharyn Farrell of Westbrook, Geralyn and her husband John Cassone of Wilton and Maureen and her husband Jeffrey Daigle of Pennsylvania; a sister Gladys Johnson and her friend Don Hrenko of Kensington; twenty two grandchildren and a great grandchild. He was predeceased by his daughter, Vickie Ann (Farrell) Smith and his brother, John W. Farrell. Funeral services will be held Wednesday 10:30 A.M. from the Farrell Funeral Home, 110 Franklin Sq. New Britain with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 A.M. at St. Paul's Church, Kensington. Burial will follow in Maple Cemetery, Berlin. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Paul's Church, 485 Alling St. Kensington, CT 06037.
