Obituary of Daniel J. Dougherty

Daniel J. Dougherty, 95, of Southington, died Wednesday morning (Feb. 10, 2016) at the Hospice Care Unit of Amber Woods Nursing Home. Born in New Britain, the son of the late Daniel and Mary Dougherty, Daniel served in World War 2 February 19, 1943. His military occupational specialty was Linesman Telephone and Telegraph. He served in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe. Daniel was honorably discharged December 22, 1945. After coming home from the war he met and married his wife Lillian June 2, 1947. Pre-deceased by his wife of 66 years he is survived by three sons. Daniel Dougherty of South Carolina, Norman and his wife Maureen Dougherty of Southington and Bryon and his wife Kathleen Dougherty of Terryville and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Saturday (Feb. 13, 2016) at 10:00 AM at the Farrell Funeral Home 110 Franklin Sq. New Britain. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain. Visitation will be Saturday from 9:00 to 10:00 AM at the funeral home.
