Obituary of Joan C. Gagliardi

Joan (Cosgrove) Gagliardi, 75, loving wife of 50 years of Alfred Gagliardi, passed away on January 25, 2016 at Hartford Hospital after a long illness. Born in New Haven to James and Marion (Reardon) Cosgrove, she grew up in North Haven, CT. Joan received her Bachelor's degree from Salve Regina University in Newport, Rhode Island and her Master of Library Science degree from Southern Connecticut State University. She worked professionally as a librarian for the Meriden Board of Education, and later, as a home health aide for the Visiting Nurse of New Britain. She and Al were longtime residents of New Britain before moving to Berlin in 2006. Joan was an active member of St. Joseph's Church, and both it's Rosary Guild and the Council of Catholic Women. In addition to her husband, Joan leaves her sister Maryann Healy of Newtown, CT; her daughter Marcia Brennan and her son-in-law Scott of Houston, TX; her daughter Camille Gagliardi and her fiancée Dana Gillette and the lights of her life, her granddaughters, Kelsey and Devon Shay of West Hartford, CT; and her sisters-in-law Theresa Glownia and Theresa Gagliardi. She is survived by many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews. Funeral services will be held Friday January 29th, 8:30 AM from the Farrell Funeral Home 110 Franklin Sq. New Britain, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 AM at St. Joseph's Church 195 So. Main St. New Britain. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain.
