Obituary of Maureen Stepeck

Maureen S. (Smithwick) Stepeck, 81, of Kensington, died Friday (Jan. 8, 2016) at home, surrounded by her loving family. Born in New Britain, the daughter of the late George and Mary (Sheehan) Smithwick, she lived in New Britain and Southington moving to Kensington in 1973. She and her husband ,Daniel P. Stepeck, Sr., were married for 57 years.
A 1951 graduate of Mary Immaculate Academy, she joined her father in the Smithwick Insurance Agency for many years. She was active in many civic affairs, a longtime volunteer at the Hospital for Special Care, where she received The Lifetime Achievement in Volunteerism Award in 2003, and worked in The Thrift Shop. She was a member of the Hospital of Central Connecticut' Women's Auxiliary and a member of the Shuttle Meadow Country Club for 37 years. She was also a member of the Suburban Women' s Club and the Junior Women's Club of New Britain, where she served as secretary.
In addition to her husband, Dan, Maureen is survived by her daughter Sarah S. Rosol and her husband Robert C. Rosol, their children, Timothy C. Rosol, Theodore M. Rosol and Shawna A. Rosol; her son Daniel P. Stepeck, Jr. and his wife Carin L. Stepeck, their children, Sydney C. Stepeck and Daniel P. Stepeck, III (Trey) ; her son Timothy S. Stepeck; her daughter Maura Stepeck and her husband William H. Dornfried, Jr, their children, Siobhan M. Dornfried and Terrence S. Dornfried; her daughter Megan A. Szczesniak and her husband, Adam Szczesniak, their children, Molly V. Szczesniak, Logan T. Szczesniak and Addison G. Szczesniak; her son George E. Stepeck; and her daughter Bridget Holt and her husband Timothy P. Holt; and their children Madailein V. Holt, Cailin M. Holt, Aislinn K. Holt and Tegwyn A. Holt. She was predeceased by her sister Sheila Egidio and stepmother Ruth Smithwick. The Stepeck family would like to thank their family and friends for their prayers and support, especially Mary Meskill and Jean Bousa.
Funeral services will be held Monday (Jan.11, 2016) 10:30 AM from the Farrell Funeral Home 110 Franklin Sq. with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 AM at St. Paul's Church 479 Alling St. Kensington. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain. Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00 to 5:00 PM at the funeral Home.
