Francis J. Santy, beloved husband of Mary (Casale) Santy, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2015. Born on March 1, 1917, in Southington, CT, Fran was the son of the late Joseph and Ruby Santy. Fran, Frank or Poppa, or Dziadziu, he answered to all, lived an extraordinary and blessed life. Married 75 wonderful years to Mary, he is survived by his son Frank G. Santy and his wife Pat of Suffield, CT, and his daughter Deb Santy of Coventry, CT; his four loving grandchildren, Robert Santy and his wife Lauri, Pamela Santy, Lynn Loucks and her husband Jon, and Jill Chase and her husband Kyle. He also leaves behind his beautiful great grandchildren, Elizabeth, Matthew and David Santy; and the twins Colbie and Jase Loucks. In addition, Fran is also survived by his sister Helen Berarducci of Plainville, CT. He was predeceased by his brother, Joseph Santy. Truly a member of the "greatest generation", he was loved by so many. Nephews and nieces came from Oregon, California, Colorado, Texas, Florida, South Carolina, Illinois, Arizona and Pennsylvania,… just to visit Uncle Francis.
Fran operated his own business as a beautician in Southington and Manchester, CT, for many years. He later ended his working career with a decade at Connecticut General. From his retirement at age 65, he and his wife travelled, walked, went to daily Mass and enjoyed each day to the fullest for nearly 35 years. He continued to drive a car until age 97, living an exceptionally healthy life. An accomplished musician, he played piano with the Polonia Orchestra for many years gracing the radio on Sunday Mornings. He continued to play the organ even up to the very last days of his life. He will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
There will be no calling hours. His life will be celebrated by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph's Church 1747 Poquonock Avenue, Windsor, CT at 10:00 AM Monday January 4, 2016. Burial will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery, Enfield, CT. In lieu of flowers, donations may be in his name to St. Joseph's Church 1747 Poquonock Ave. Windsor, CT 06095 or to Allied Community Services, 3 Pearson Way, Enfield, CT 06082.
