Obituary of John M. Grasso

John M. Grasso, 98 years young, beloved husband of the late Mary (Mortellitti) Grasso, who was the love of his life, was greeted at the gates of heaven by God, Blessed Mary and the heavenly angels on December 4, 2015.
John was born in Oakfield, New York, the son of the late Joseph and Natalie Grasso and moved to New Britain when he was 10 years old. He graduated from New Britain High School and worked for H.P. Koppleman for 37 years. John was a lifelong, devout parishioner of St Ann's Church, having volunteered for many years as a groundskeeper. Upon his retirement, Fr. Augustine Giusani hired John to take care of the church as a groundskeeper and sexton for 26 years. John took great pride in keeping the grounds and church at St. Ann's in prestigious condition as well as his own home.
John was predeceased by his son John M Grasso Jr, his sisters Rose Scollo, Ann Pugliese, Jenny Rawlinitis and brothers Samuel, James, Nicholas, Sam & Anthony Grasso.
He is survived by two loving daughters, Elaine Pavasaris and her husband Donald, Carol Giddix and her husband Leonard; six grandchildren Ann Marie Musshorn, Mary Ellen Pavasaris, D.J. Pavasaris, Leah Biron and her husband Justin, Jonathon Giddix and his fiancé Lisa Hartigan and Timothy Giddix; four great grandchildren, Rielly, Taylor, Sophia and Owen and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 9, 2015, 9am at Farrell Funeral Home, 110 Franklin Square, New Britain with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Ann's Church, 47 Clark St, New Britain. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, New Britain. Visitation will be Tuesday, December 8, 2015 from 5-7pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Ann's Church or Seasons Hospice www.seasonshospice.org.
