Joseph F. Kneppers, 88, of New Britain, died Saturday (Oct. 16, 2011) at the Jerome Home. Born in New Britain he grew up in the south end where he made life long friends known as the "South Street Gang". He graduated from New Britain High School in 1941, where he was a track star. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Army during World War II in the European Theater as an engineer. Following World War II, Joe worked at the Connecticut Light and Power Co. for 35 years. He was also an avid fisherman and boater, spending many hours on Long Island Sound. Joe"s friendship with the Fracasso Family spans three generations spending Christmas Eve and many holidays together where he was named an honorary family member. In addition to the the Fracasso family, Joe leaves behind numerous friends. Funeral services will be held Wednesday (Oct. 19, 2011) with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. at St. Jerome Church 1010 Slater Road New Britain. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jerome Church 1010 Slater Road New Britain, CT 06053.
