Obituary of Peter S. Grip

Peter Stanley Grip, 78, of Southington, CT, passed away on November 5, 2015 in palliative care, Hartford Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Peter was born in New Britain, CT to the late Peter and Anna Grip on July 4, 1937. A graduate of New Britain High School class of 1956, he went on to earn an Associates Degree in Business from Tunxis Community College and a Bachelors Degree from Central CT State University. He worked on many important projects like the Lunar Excursion Module (LEM) and the Turbo train when he worked at United Aircraft (Division of Pratt and Whitney) and he also built lasers while working for Carson Laboratories. He was a multi-talented man in his varied career paths, finally using his entrepreneurial skills to create a successful business Chris-Marc Associates, until he retired. He was passionate about his family and art. He was a prolific artist with a stunning talent in pastels, without any formal training. His art work was highlighted and shown as part of CT Pastel Artists. He was an amazing man, kind, loving and devoted to his wife and family. A devout catholic he was strong in his faith. He will be missed terribly, his smile, sometimes bad jokes, but most of all, his loving personality and bright spirit.
Peter is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Sandra Marie (Argazzi) Grip. Their love was precious, joyous and magical; Peter was the love of Sandra's life. He is also survived by son Mark Grip and his wife Sharon, his son Christopher and Cathy Grip, a brother Ronald Grip and his wife Anne, his brother in law Andrew (Jerry) Mals and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Peter was predeceased by his sister Barbara Meehan and her husband Joseph and his sister Margaret Mals.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday (Nov.11, 2015) with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph's Church 33 Queen St. Bristol. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association 2080 Silas Deane Hwy Rocky Hill, CT 06067.
