Gloria H. Lanza, 92, of New Britain, died Wednesday Night (Oct.14, 2015) at an area convalescent home. Born in New Britain, the daughter of the late William and Marjorie (Sullivan) Lanza, she was a lifelong resident. A graduate of the University of Hartford, she was a bookkeeper with the W.L. Hatch Insurance Agency in New Britain for 25 years. An avid knitter, after retirement she owned and operated the Yarn Winder Shop in Farmington.
She was predeceased by her sisters Marjorie Lanza and Virginia Maben and her brothers Raymond Lanza and William Lanza. Gloria is survived by her nieces and nephews Meg Ackerly, Gail Lanza, Kathy Lanza, Noreen Lanza, William Lanza, John Maben, Richard Maben and Patty Masi.
Funeral services will be held Monday 9:00 AM from the Farrell Funeral Home 110 Franklin Sq. New Britain, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Maurice Church 100 Wightman Rd. New Britain. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain. Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
