Obituary Howard J. Begley, Sr. Retired Captain, NBFD, 91, of New Britain, died September 10, 2008 at the Jefferson House in Newington. He was the widower of Margaret (Nolan) Begley. A lifelong resident of New Britain, Mr. Begley was born May 1, 1917, a son of the late Raymond K. and Marian (Lawless) Begley, Sr. A lifelong career firefighter with the city of New Britain he retired as a Captain after serving for 35 years. A U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, he was also a parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi Church in New Britain. He is survived by a daughter Kathleen Daigle and her husband Gregory of Moodus and sons, Howard J. Begley, Jr. and his wife Laura of Kensington, Daniel Begley of Florida, Kevin Begley of New Britain and Paul Begley and his wife Margaret of Harwinton, five grandchildren, a brother Robert Begley of Granby, a dear devoted friend Nancy Lyons and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 8:30 AM at the Farrell Funeral Home, 110 Franklin Sq., New Britain with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 AM at St Francis of Assisi Church, Stanley St., New Britain. Burial with full military honors will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 5-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Friendship Service Center, 241 Arch St., New Britain, CT. 06051.
