Please share a memory of Ann to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Ann Dahill Griggs of Kensington passed into the arms of the angels on September 13, 2015 at the Hospital of Central Connecticut.
Born in Worcester, MA, Ann was raised in Hartford and Hamden. She was a graduate of Mount St. Joseph's Academy in West Hartford, attended St. Mary-of-the-Woods College in Indiana, and earned her B.A. from Albertus Magnus College and an M.A. from Wesleyan University. She had a love of knowledge and learning that she fostered in her children.
Ann taught in the Guilford school system until her marriage to Dr. Donald J. Griggs of New Britain. After their move to Kensington, Ann became a tireless community volunteer who lent her leadership skills to many organizations. She was a past president of the Repertory Theater Group in New Britain, the Connecticut Hunter Jumper Association and the Ladies Auxiliary at the Hospital of Central Connecticut where she volunteered for over 30 years.
Ann was a devoted mother who spent many years supporting her children's activities.
With her daughter Annemarie, she traveled around the country to equestrian events where she was known as a vibrant and competitive "horse show mom." Ann's love of horses remained with her throughout her life.
Ann made friends easily with her youthful buoyancy and vivacious personality. She had a stylish presence and a sharp wit that made her the life of every party. Her children will miss her courage and strength and will remember her for her loving support.
Ann is survived by her loving family, her daughter, Annemarie Griggs of Beverly Hills, CA and her sons, Donald Griggs Jr. and Christopher Griggs, both of Kensington as well as her brother, Joseph Dahill, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by Dr. Donald J. Griggs. Funeral services will be held Thursday with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Andrews Church 396 Church St. New Britain. Burial will be private. Visitation will be Thursday from 9:00 AM until the time of the Mass at the Farrell Funeral Home 110 Franklin Sq. New Britain.
