Margaret E. Hammer, 91, of Plainville, died Wednesday (June 17, 2015) after a long illness. Born in Plainville, the daughter of the late Charles and Mary (Fischl) Hammer, she was a lifelong Plainville resident. She was employed for many years as secretary to the president of New Britain Machine. She was a long time parishioner of Our Lady Of Mercy Church in Plainville and a member of the Austrian Donau Singing Society. Margaret is survived by her close friends Peter, Robert and Karen Kummer of New Britain. She was predeceased by two brothers John F. Hammer and Carl Hammer and a sister Helen and her husband Walter Sinkiewicz. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Tueday at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Mercy Church, Plainville. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain. Visitation will be Tuesday starting at 9:00AM at the Farrell Funeral Home 110 Franklin Sq. New Britain. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Donau Club Scholarship Fund, 545 Arch St. New Britain, CT 06052. Margaret's family would to thank the staff at the Alzheimer's Resource Center in Plantsville for their care and compassion toward Margaret.
