Obituary of Norman Roy

Norman J. Roy, 87, of New Britain, died Friday (Feb. 13, 2015) at the Hospital of Central CT in New Britain. Born in New Britain, he attended Berlin High School, where he excelled in baseball, basketball and football. Most recently, he was an avid golfer and shot a hole in one within the last few years. He was an accountant, having worked at Fafnir Bearing Co., C.E. McQuire, Birnbaum's Funiture, United Express and the U.S. Post Office. He also served as an alderman for the City of New Britain, was an avid bowler, a fifty year member of the St. Jean the Baptist Society and a U.S. Army World War II veteran. Norman is survived by his wife Mary (Bonaiuto) Roy, his daughters, Maria and her husband David Lazicki of New Britain, and Cynthia Yaconiello of New Britain; grandsons David Lazicki, Richard Lazicki, Michael Yaconiello and his wife Joanna, and Ryan Yaconiello and great grandchild Janessa Yaconiello. Funeral services will be held Friday with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Peter Church 98 Franklin Sq. New Britain. Burial will follow in the State Veteran's Cemetery, Middletown. Visitation will be Friday from 9:00 until the time of the mass at the Farrell Funeral Home 110 Franklin Sq. New Britain.
