Obituary of William P. Meehan

William P. Meehan, 86, formerly of New Britain, died Tuesday (Jan. 27, 2015) at the Hartford Hospital. Born and raised in New Britain, he lived the last 10 years in Rocky Hill and was the son of the late William and Mary (Hart) Meehan. He had retired from the New Britain Police Department after many years as a Lieutenant. After retirement, Bill worked for the State of Connecticut, as a liquor control inspector for 13 years. He was a longtime member of the B.P.O Elks #957 and a U.S. Army Veteran, having served during the Korean Conflict.
Mr. Meehan is survived by his wife Dolores (Doty) Meehan, four sons James and his wife Cheryl Meehan of Allen, TX, William and his wife Miriam Meehan of Bristol, Kevin and his wife Eileen Meehan of Southington and Michael and his wife Karen Meehan of Plainville; 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother Donald Meehan and his grandson Patrick Meehan.
Friends and family are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial Saturday at 9:30 AM at St. Joseph's Church 195 So. Main St. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Farrell Funeral Home 110 Franklin sq. New Britain. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice. Members of the B.P.O Elks #957 will meet Friday at 6:15 PM.
