Sarafina (Sardo) Magnano, 88, of New Britain died Tuesday June 17, 2008 at an area convalescent home. She was the widow of Luigi Magnano. Born in Catania, Sicily, Italy, January 7, 1920, a daughter of the late Paul and Mary (Sarafina) Sardo, she moved to New Britain in 1960. She worked as a seamstress for the American Bazaar in New Britain for many years before her retirement. Mrs. Magnano was also a longtime member of the Angelo Custode Society of New Britain. She is survived by her daughters, Connie DiDomenico and her husband Angelo of Kensington, Sebastiana Balurdi of Rocky Hill and Maria Boutin of New Britain; her sons, Paul Magnano and his wife Norma of New Britain and Nick Magnano and his wife Tammy of Alexandria, LA; and 12 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren; also survived by a sister, Grazia Gotto of Priolo, Sicily, Italy and a host of nieces and nephews in the US and throughout Europe. Besides her husband, she is predeceased by a son-in-law, Berthier Boutin and several brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 9:00 AM at the Farrell Funeral Home, 110 Franklin Sq., New Britain. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM at St. Peter Church, New Britain. Entombment will follow in St. Mary Garden Mausoleum, New Britain. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 5:00-8:00 PM.
