Obituary Mary Jane (Taylor) Hartney, age 86, of New Britain died May 20, 2008 at an area convalescent home. She was the widow of George T. Hartney. Born in New Haven, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary Elizabeth (Wynne) Taylor. She lived most of her life in New Britain before moving to Village Gate in Farmington 3 years ago and then Glastonbury. Mary Jane was employed by Fafnir, W.T. Grant and the Veterans Hospital in Newington where she performed various secretarial duties. She also was a volunteer at the Hospital of Central CT at New Britain General, where she worked in the gift shop for 13 years. She is survived by her son Thomas G. Hartney and his wife Deborah of East Hartford, a grandson, Thomas D. Hartney of California; brothers, John Taylor of Plainville and William Taylor of New Britain and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 8:00 AM at the Farrell Funeral Home, 110 Franklin Sq., New Britain with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 AM at St. Maurice Church, New Britain. Burial will follow in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 4-7 PM. Memorial contibutions may be made to St. Maurice Church, 100 Wightman Rd., New Britain, CT. 06052.
