OBITUARIES Anthony J. "Tony" Norris, 59, of New Britain, died Sunday at the John Dempsey Hospital in Farmington. Born in New Britain, the son of the late Joseph and Estelle (Gianoli) Norris, he was a life long resident. He was a graduate of New Britain High School and Rutgers University. Tony's proudest accomplish was the establishment, along with his partner, Mike Kandefer, of the Urban Oaks Organic Farms in New Britain in 1999. Throughout Tony's two and one half year battle with brain cancer, he continued to work at the farm. Urban Oaks was truly Tony's pride and joy. Prior to Urban Oaks, Tony and Mike had operated AuxFinerHerbs for ten years. Tony was a member of East Side NRZ, the Democratic Town Committee and worked on public relations as the Commission Officer on the Arts. In addition to his partner Mike, Tony is survived by his brother Charles and his wife Jeanne Norris of Constable, NY; his sister Jo-Ann Norris and Bruce DiCiccho of Rocky Hill; his nieces and nephews Joe and his wife Melissa Norris, Beth Norris and Craig and his wife Kathy Norris and grand nieces and nephews Charles, Emma, Miles, Ericka, and Evelyn Norris. Funeral services will be held Wednesday 9:00 A.M. at the Farrell Funeral Home 110 Franklin Sq. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain. Visitation will be today from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Urban Oaks c/o The Human Resources Agency of New Britain 180 Clinton St. New Britain, CT 06053. The family would like to thank a few wonderful and dedicated doctors at the John Dempsey Hospital at UCONN, Dr. Onyiuke, Dr Hegde and Dr. Dowsett and all the staff, especial Terri, for their special efforts and kindness. A special thank you to Sue, Tony's nurse and floor 6 during a difficult final few days. The family would also like to thank the many friends of Tony's that helped and supported him throughout his illness.
