Auntie Josie....I now live in Holyoke, MA...but read The Herald on-line everyday. I saw yesterday that Uncle Joe had passed away. I am so sorry to hear that. I never realized that he and my father shared the same birthday! 7/29. I can imagine the two of them together right now!!! I grew up always knowing that Uncle Joe was best-man at my parents' wedding. I know my father and mother met in your store on Franklin Ave. I think often and fondly of the many times my father, my brother, David, and I would come down to the store and David and I would go in the back, under the grape arbors and have cookies...or the times you and/or Uncle Joe would give us treats in the store. I was thinking today of the times when I was in the seminary in Rochester, NY and Uncle Joe would mail me some of the homemade salamis and State Line potato chips in a care package. I love remembering all of these things! I want you to know you are often in my thoughts and prayers. You and Uncle Joe are very special people, and will always be so to me! David and Marsha ask to be remembered to you. David and his wife live in Wethersfield, and Marsha and husband live in Southington. Each has two children...all grown up now!! One last thought....working with Uncle Joe and my father at the Fraternal Club on Monroe Street, making the spaghetti suppers!!! Those were some experiences! Be well, please, Auntie Josie. All my love, Buddy ((Only about 4 people left now who know me by the name Buddy!!!!)
